Hey there and welcome to my blog! I’m Felicia Davis, a post-graduate premed student on a journey to medical school! I graduated from Hampton University with a degree in Biology, but my path to medicine hasn’t been the traditional one. As a non-traditional premed, I’ve navigated unique challenges, explored different experiences, and gained valuable insights that I hope to share with others who may be on a similar path.
My ultimate goal is to become a physician-scientist, combining patient care with groundbreaking research. I plan to pursue an MD/PhD with a focus on neurology and psychiatry, where I can bridge the gap between neuroscience research and clinical practice. I am passionate about understanding the complexities of the brain and developing new treatments for neurological and psychiatric disorders. Through my career, I hope to contribute to medical advancements while also making a direct impact on patients’ lives.
I created Medicine Awaits to document my journey, offer advice, and provide support to other non-traditional premed students. From MCAT prep to application advice to the mental health struggles that come with this journey, I want to create a space where aspiring doctors—especially those who took a less conventional route—can find guidance, motivation, and reassurance.
In addition to this blog, I also run a YouTube channel where I document my journey to becoming a physician-scientist. There, I share my experiences, challenges, and insights as I navigate the premed path, hoping to inspire and support others along the way.
If you’re a non-traditional premed (or just someone curious about the road to medical school), I hope my experiences can help make your journey a little easier. Let’s navigate this path together—because no matter where we start, medicine awaits!
